Meet Burnett Coburn

Burnett Coburn is a Jamaican‐born artist and author, a veteran of the New York Caribbean poetry scene, whose work centers on themes of black beauty, devotion, and romance. His creative path began in his youth, and saw him train rigorously at the Jamaica School of Drama at the Edna Manley College of the Visual & Performing Arts, where he majored in Directing and was awarded the prestigious Greta Fowler Memorial Scholarship. Coburn is the author of Sorbet & Sweet Potato Pudding (2016) and the forthcoming collection, The Honey Bee Chronicles (2025). His poetic mission is clear: to craft odes to black women, celebrating them as African Queens deserving of their own Neruda.
